Das Projekt „Bourj Hammoud – Psychogeographic exploration Beirut #3* “ ist
nach der Veranstaltungsreihe "Petržalka"(Bratislava. 2015) und "Başakşehir"(Istanbul. 2016/2017), die durch Youssef Tabti
entworfen und in verschiedenen Ländern umgesetzt wurde, das dritte
Projekt des Künstlers.
Der
Beiruter Vorort "Bourj Hammoud" wird auch als das Herz der Armenier im
Libanon genannt. Die Einwohner des Stadtteils sind überwiegend Armenier
und Nachkommen von Überlebenden der Todesmärsche (1915/1916) in
Anatolien infolge des Völkermordes an den Armeniern. Der Stadtteil wurde ab den 1920er Jahren bebaut und von armenischen Flüchtlingen besiedelt. Die Armenier im Libanon sind libanesische Bürger oder Zugezogene armenischer Herkunft. Die
armenische Gemeinde Libanons ist im Wesentlichen in der Zeit nach dem
Großen Völkermord entstanden, als armenische Flüchtlinge im Libanon

A collaboration between Youssef
Tabti, French artist, based in Germany and Rani Al Rajji, Lebanese
architect, based in Beirut. Initiated by Goethe-Institut Libanon.
Project Description:
“Psychogeographic
exploration" is a practice that rediscovers the physical city through the
moods and atmospheres that act upon the individual. Psychogeography is the
experimental exploration of the environment and its impacts. It investigates
the influence the geographic environment has on the perception and the behavior
of the individual. Perhaps the most prominent
characteristic of psychogeography is the activity of WALKING. The act of
walking could be become a subversive and political act.
About 10 participants from Beirut
with different social backgrounds explored the district of Bourj Hammoud
through individual and collective walking tours through the district. During
these tours, participants collected items, drew maps and wrote down thoughts
and observations. The exhibition at Zoukak Studio
is the final presentation of the project, showcasing a mapping of the region
through the participants’ routes on a map, as well as photographs, objects and
texts of the participants.
Zu Fuß durch Beirut
Ziellosigkeit
wird oft als Schwäche und Desorientierung interpretiert. Dabei
übersehen wir das Potenzial, das ihr innewohnt: die Möglichkeit, Neues
zu entdecken und Altbekanntes mit einem anderen Blickwinkel zu erkunden.
Zum Beispiel beim Umherschweifen zu Fuß durch Beirut.
Spazierengehen als subversive Kunst. Das ist die Idee, die hinter dem Projekt „Psychogeografische Routen“ steckt. Der Künstler Youssef Tabti
hat dieses Projekt ins Leben gerufen. Zusammen mit dem libanesischen
Architekten Rani Al Rajji hat er sieben TeilnehmerInnen auf ihre
individuellen „psychogeographischen Routen“ durch Beirut, die Hauptstadt
des Libanon, geschickt...
